To work alongside Done+Dusted, the international multi award-winning broadcast production agency. Our brief was to manage the brand and stadium activation of one of the largest video games in history. With 120 million viewers, Masters Madrid was Valorant’s most watched event, ever.
We created something truly immersive across the venue on three floors. We produced over 1200 items of brand collateral, signage and advertising and set/scenic materials that brought the event to life from a variety of 14 substrate materials in over 200 locations.
In association with my printing partner in Madrid, Grupo Panorama, we wrapped stadium pillars, branded VIP bars, artworked the front facade, flagged up for broadcast media and supported the production team in bringing the set to life on stage.
A favourite but *slightly* stressful moment was when Riot’s Creative Director, John, asked me to create a trophy stand within 48 hours for the grand final. The client's original plan was for a standard plinth structure but it had no impact on camera during rehearsals, and so in context with the event, I designed a wire structure bringing together 244 dynamically placed butterflies, in brand congruence with the new game character that was to be announced at the final. The result was a twisting surge of butterflies exploding up from the base made from galvanised aluminium.
"Working with Olly was amazing. He was an integral part of the team, who went above and beyond to deliver considerably more than what was in his scope of work. We loved having him on the team, and our client loved working with him too."
